Introduction to Plant Taxonomy

May 31–Jun 21 (Saturdays)

Learn how to use the dissecting microscopes to take a closer look at basic plant morphology and understand the concepts of plant taxonomy. A simple approach to the use of plant keys will be covered, as well as basic plant family characteristics necessary for plant identification.

The Secret Life of Turtles: A Family Program

This family workshop explores what turtles do when they’re not crossing roads or sunning on logs. It includes observation of live turtles and information on how many turtles are found in the Triangle area and which species are endangered.

Knowing and Growing Carnivorous Plants

This class discusses the plant communities and ecological processes that support carnivorous plants in the wild and how to propagate and grow pitcher plants at home. Participants create a portable bog garden to take home.
