This regional symposium, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, continues the important dialogue that began during previous national Black Women in the Academy conferences held in 1994 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in 1999 at Howard University. A regional conference on Black Women in the Academy was also held in 1995 at UNC-Chapel Hill. Previous conferences have provided a public forum to focus on the experiences of black women in a variety of disciplines and at all ranks within academic institutions, from graduate school students to college presidents.
The conference will be held at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education, UNC-Chapel Hill’s premier adult education facility. See directions to the Friday Center.
Visit the conference Web site for complete information.
NOTE: The conference has reached capacity, and registration is closed.
