Audiovisual Services and Technical Support
The Friday Center has a variety of built-in and moveable audiovisual support systems to enhance your learning activities. Our skilled technology staff will work with you from the beginning stages of program planning to ensure that you have the personalized audiovisual support you need for effective presentations. Our staff will set up equipment for your program, and arrangements can be made for them to operate the equipment for you when needed.
Equipment Inventory
The Friday Center has a wide variety of equipment on hand to support your program. Included are:
- lecterns with microphones
- wireless lavalier, wireless hand-held, and panel microphones
- overhead projector
- TV/VCR combinations for VHS and SVHS video formats
- broadcast-quality SVHS/VHS/MiniDV camcorder
- document camera
- DVD player
- IBM PC-compatible laptops
- Internet access via modem, ethernet, or wireless
- laser and pen pointers
- LCD computer/data projectors
- remote mouse for laptop
- satellite receiver.
Control Room
The Friday Center features an audiovisual control room from which our technicians can monitor and control audiovisual functions in meeting rooms, making your conference as smooth and as automated as possible. Technicians are just a phone call away from each meeting room for last minute changes.
Computer-enabled Classrooms
The Friday Center offers a number of options to meet your computer classroom needs. The Sycamore Room, a meeting room with 25 direct fiber-optic connections to the Internet, can be set up with your own laptop computers or with the Center’s inventory of 15 laptops. This room has an instructor’s workstation; the image from the instructor’s workstation can be projected onto a large screen for the class to view. The Center’s laptops can also be used to create a computer classroom in other locations throughout the building, with Internet access provided by the Center’s wireless network. Our technology staff will discuss your needs and help determine the best way to accommodate them.
Smart Classrooms
Friday Center meeting rooms are fitted with smart classroom technology. All audiovisual presentation equipment in the rooms, including LCD projector, computer, SVHS/VHS player, DVD player, document camera, and all microphones, can be controlled by the presenter from an LCD touch panel.
Special Projection Systems
Grumman Auditorium offers high-intensity single and dual 35mm slide projection and large-screen LCD projection for video and computer images.
The Sunflower Room also provides rear-screen 35mm slide, video, and computer projection. The Sunflower Room has 62 data connections to the Internet, and its 31 table-mounted microphones make it videoconference-ready.
The Board Room features rear-screen slide, video, and computer projection.
Videoconferencing
The Friday Center’s Polycom unit is capable of originating interactive videoconferences to any place in the world. The unit utilizes both ISDN (digital telephone) lines and H.323 (Internet data) lines to facilitate this. Communication can be one-way, two-way, or multipoint. Our technicians will work with you to explore the possibilities of videoconferencing to expand and enhance the scope of your program
Video Recording
Our technicians can video record the proceedings of your conference, whether it be for training purposes or for video presentations at a later date. Several meeting areas in the Center offer remote video-recording capabilities, utilizing broadcast-quality digital video cameras. DVCAM, MiniDV, SVHS, VHS, and DVD formats are available. Contact our technology staff for more information.
Audio Recording
Through the central control room, our technicians can record your meeting or conference for later transcription. Arrangements can be made for extra copies as well.
Lecterns
Lectern systems have been selected with attention to detail to assure that they support a variety of needs.
Special Equipment Needs
To ensure system compatibility and appropriate technical support, only Friday Center audiovisual equipment may be used in the Center. For special needs that we cannot meet, we will work with area suppliers to assist you with necessary arrangements. Equipment and services other than those routinely provided are available at the Center for additional fees. Please discuss your needs with Center staff.
