GEOL 101: Introduction to Geology

Offered Fall 2013

This course is an introduction to minerals and rocks. It covers major geologic events, such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, mountain formation, plate tectonics, and continental drifts. It also looks at landscape development by glaciers, streams and groundwater, ocean currents and waves, and wind.

GEOL 105: Violent Earth

This course examines Earth as a dynamic planet, changing catastrophically through volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, and meteoric impacts. The causes and effects of these phenomena will be addressed as well as their impact on human development.
