Textbooks
Textbooks and other required materials can be purchased from Friday Center Books & Gifts, operated by UNC Student Stores in the Friday Center, in the following ways:
- Fax: You can print out, complete, and fax a book order form to Friday Center Books & Gifts at 919-962-7482.
- Mail: Print out, complete, and mail a book order form to Friday Center Books & Gifts at the address indicated on the form.
- In Person: Friday Center Books & Gifts is located on the first floor of the Friday Center; hours are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Click here for directions.
Please do not send book orders or book payments to Credit Programs for Part-time Students.
We strongly recommend that you obtain books at the time you enroll to be certain of getting the correct editions. Required texts are listed with each course description. Book prices are available at the Friday Center Books & Gifts Web site. When courses are revised and updated, new editions or new texts may be required, so be sure to purchase the textbooks listed in the course description at the time of your enrollment.
If you order books from Friday Center Books & Gifts at the time of enrollment and Friday Center Books & Gifts is unable to supply the books, we will issue a full tuition refund, provided you indicate to us within one month of the enrollment date that you wish to withdraw from the course.
Used books may be available for some courses. If you wish to purchase used books, indicate this on your book order form. Send money to cover the price of new books; if used books are available, Friday Center Books & Gifts will issue a refund.
Repurchasing Books
In most cases, Friday Center Books & Gifts will repurchase textbooks at a percentage of their original cost. The amount paid will depend on the condition of the book and the current wholesale price for used textbooks. If you wish to sell your books, contact Friday Center Books & Gifts before mailing them to determine whether the books can be repurchased. When returning books by mail, be sure to include your name and current address. Friday Center Books & Gifts is not responsible for books that are lost in transit. Friday Center Books & Gifts does not repurchase audiotapes or videotapes.
Textbooks may be returned for a full refund if the following conditions are met:
- the student has formally withdrawn from the course and has supporting documentation from Credit Programs for Part-time Students
- the books were purchased within the previous sixty days
- the books are in the same condition as when purchased
- the student returns the original receipt.
