CLAS 125: Word Formation and Etymology

CLAS 125 is an introduction to the Latin and Greek elements that make up over half the vocabulary of the English language. It is designed to improve vocabulary skills, promote precision of expression in writing and speaking, and increase the student's appreciation of the historical developments of his or her language.

CLAS 126: Medical Word Formation and Etymology

The goal of this course is to give you access to the imposing language of the medical profession. It will acquaint you with the elements from which most medical terms are formed—roots taken from Greek and Latin, which were the languages of doctors and philosophers from the time of Hippocrates.
